Replacement Heat Exchange Replacement of the heat exchanger of the Short Circuit Generator during annual maintenance. Traditionally Damstra laboratory started the year with the execution of the preventive maintenance program for the short circuit test area. The preventive maintenance program has been developed over time and is based on the years of experience of the technical experts working daily with the equipment. Proper execution of the preventive maintenance plan is critical for a safe and reliable operation of the equipment. In addition to the maintenance tasks, Damstra laboratory also replaced the Heat Exchange unit of the Short Circuit Generator. This unit is responsible for cooling of the Generator when in operation. The oil, used for cooling and lubrication of the Generator has a flow rate of 110 liters/minute through the tubes and is cooled by water which is flowing segregated of the oil through the tubes as well. The purpose of the heat exchanger is to cool the oil of the generator with water, to prevent high temperatures is critical parts of the generator. The water flows in a closed loop system, to prevent water waste. The water exchanging its heat to the (moist) soil. During initial test runs the effect of the new cooler exceeded the expectation resulting in improved temperature control. Print
